Soon in September 2024, Prof Joao Paulo will be a Post Doctoral Research Fellow in AI for Agriculture in MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA.  The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private land-grant research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Joao seeks to develop innovative Artificial Intelligence CDSS (Clinical Decision Support Systems) solutions that facilitate clinical decision-making, providing a better quality of life for everyone involved.   

The solution can be classified as a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), non-knowledge based, aimed at helping the physician in the cancer diagnosis process. 

The application does not make a diagnosis but shows the probability that the informed case is an oncology case.

Joao is currently based in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

Scott has an exceptional and distinguished career in medical sciences, life science research, clinical research, education and clinical medicine in Australia, UK, Middle East, and USA. His tireless work covers an extensive and exhaustive range over a truly remarkable body of knowledge, expertise, and lived-in experiences over several continents.

Scott completed his undergraduate education in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California at San Diego. In addition to his many Australian and United Kingdom postgraduate qualifications in Medicine (see below), Scott holds a Diploma of Education (Biological Science & Chemistry), a Masters (Occupational Health & Safety) and a PhD (Environmental Toxicology). 

 Scott enjoyed a successful academic career as a research fellow, senior lecturer, and research academic in Public Health and Biomedical Science at QUT and SCU. Scott held university senior leadership roles including Course Coordinator, Head of School, Chair of School Board, and Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research. 

Dr Hahn’s research interests, expertise and publication record relate predominantly to his work in Environmental Toxicology and Occupational Health & Safety. These academic foci continue through his elective participation, and professional development associated with CBRND (Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Defence), underwater medicine, clinical research, and aviation medicine. 

Scott was Scientific Officer with expertise in analytical biochemistry and environmental toxicology, and experience as a senior Australian university academic.

Scott has highly specialized medical training: Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Auditor Course; Radiation Medicine Course - Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site, Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear, Explosives Medicine Course,

Scott worked in development and provision of Chemical Biological Radiological Medical Capability. He was responsible for Health Threat Assessment Capability review and development. Scott has also worked in Chemical Biological Radiological Medical Counter Measures.

Scott has clinical training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, General Practice and Aviation Medicine.  Scott obtained the Postgraduate Diploma of Aerospace Medicine (with Distinction) at King’s College London, and the Royal College of Physicians London Faculty of Occupational Medicine Diploma in Aviation Medicine.  

Scott looks forward to the challenges and opportunities arising from his practice of aerospace and occupational medicine. He works as a Medical Adviser to DVA, and ongoing contribution to emergency and primary health care provision at Oakey Hospital as a Senior Medical Officer.

Stephen is a proven veteran Pharmaceutical Physician and Pharmaceutical Medicine Consultant with deep industry experience across Europe extending into Asia. Stephen has the MBA with Distinction (Sheffield, UK). 

Prior to the pharmaceutical industry, Stephen had 10 years of fulltime hands on clinical practice in hospitals and general practice in UK and Singapore. Stehpen has the MBBS (Singapore), MRCGP (UK) and MFPM (Royal College of Physicians, London).

For over 2 decades, Stephen excelled in positions of increasing seniority with multiple blue-chip pharmaceutical companies, including GSK, Novartis and P&G.

Notably, Stephen was Co-chair of the European Medical Leadership Team, which comprises country medical directors, global clinical development, and global marketing. The group aimed to develop high standards for medical affairs, design late phase clinical studies and input into marketing plans. 

While with GSK, Stephen worked closely with fellow EU medical colleagues on a number of pan-European clinical projects and was Leader for a European registry study.

“After 17 years there, I joined The Farrer Park Company.” In 2017, Farrer Park Hospital’s CEO stepped away from the role. 

Dr Peng’s many hats – a team leader, corporate business veteran and trained medical professional – made him the ideal candidate. “I thought an integrated hospitality-cum-medical complex sounded exciting and refreshing,” he says.

Situated in the Situated in the Singapore suburb with which it shares its name, Farrer Park Hospital specialises in both acute clinical care and chronic condition management. 

Dr Peng says the hospital’s concept – a multidisciplinary specialty facility with an adjoining medical centre integrated into a luxury hotel – is a stand-out in the field.

 “These were evolved by our board over time to make sure we’re more than just another hospital,” he explains. Farrer Park Hospital’s chassis is Connexion, a 20-storey building that includes food and retail stores, a spa and a hotel. 

“Environmental sustainability has been in our DNA since our inception,” Dr Peng says. “Connexion’s management actively monitors energy and water consumption and pursues opportunities to lower its carbon footprint.”

The infrastructure is also flexible; at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the hotel was converted into medical rooms for patients recovering from the virus. “At the same time, we were able to provide healthcare support training to our hotel staff before deploying them to assist our nurses in the care of these patients.”
